I am a Tennessee girl who loves the great outdoors. My favorite pastimes — other than writing — are hiking, camping, kayaking and traveling to exciting places on this glorious spinning orb we call home. I also enjoy gardening, knitting and classic jazz. In addition to the writing that I do for a living at the local newspaper, I also write for pure pleasure, crafting tales of human interest about the ironies and surprises of life. In the great outdoors, I find both relaxation and inspiration. You can frequently find me trailside, sitting atop a comfortable boulder or tree stump, scribbling down thoughts in a journal.

Now that I've jumped into the world of blogging, I'm looking to find my voice — what to write about, how often to post, etc. I will be dropping occasional missives here on topics ranging from life lessons to outdoor adventures to what's going on in the world of media.
